TransGo 42RLE-VLP SHIFT KIT® Valve Body Repair Kit
Fits 2006 and newer Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Jeep vehicles equipped with A604, 40TES, 41TES, 41TE, and 42RLE transmissions with variable line pressure (VLP) solenoid and sensor.
For models without the VLP solenoid and sensor, use kit #SK 604. Common issues with this transmission include TCC slip or shudder, code P0740, overheating, delayed engagement in forward or reverse, and clunks during 4-3 or 2-1 coast downshifts.
Valve Body-Related Issues:
Problems like TCC slip or shudder, code P0740, and overheating are often caused by wear in the pressure regulator valve and TCC regulator valve bores. The kit includes USA-made drop-in pressure regulator and TCC regulator valves with extended lands, which fix these issues without the need for reaming or machining.
Internally-Generated Issues:
The 4-3 coast clunk is typically due to a malfunctioning underdrive clutch inner piston seal. The kit provides a specially designed tuff seal and expander wire to resolve this issue. Delayed engagement in forward or reverse and the 2-1 coast downshift clunk are often caused by aging, specifically when the low-reverse piston housing gasket shrinks and starts leaking. TransGo has developed a special gasket made from a non-shrinking material to address this.

Extended Lands: The longer lands on both valves restore hydraulic integrity by using previously unworn areas of the bore, and also enhance bore longevity by distributing the load over a larger surface area.

Enhanced Seals: Includes a non-shrinking low/reverse piston housing gasket, high-temperature accumulator piston seals, and expanders for aluminum pistons, as well as a tuff seal for the underdrive clutch piston.

Improved Shifts: Accumulator spacers are included to make clutch exhaust faster, resulting in shorter, cleaner shifts.
