Within this system is the clutch, which is made up of several discs that are assembled in order to facilitate gear changes. Although often forgotten and ignored, the clutch has a very important function, as this device transfers power from the engine to the vehicle's transmission.

Unlike the manual transmission, automatic transmission clutches must be covered with fluid as a damaged clutch causes fluid contamination. Therefore the transmission clutch pack must be replaced and not only have its fluid changed. For this reason it is important to service the clutches and keep them in good condition without slipping.
