Sonnax TCC Apply Valve Kit for 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E (PWM Units Only)
GM 4L60-E, 4L65-E, and 4L70-E transmissions with PWM units often experience converter overheat lockup issues, including no lockup or premature lockup after 2nd gear when the fluid warms up. These problems are typically caused by valve bore wear and oil cross-leaks. Sonnax TCC Apply Valve Kit 77805E-K resolves these issues with an updated design featuring a PTFE seal to eliminate cross-leakage and ensure proper TCC operation.
Features:
- Eliminates TCC drift on apply with updated stroke pressure
- PTFE seal prevents cross-leaking of converter signal and feed oil
- Works in both early- and late-style PWM pumps (spring included)
- Drop-in Zip Valve™ parts for quick and easy installation
Contents:
- Aluminum valve
- PTFE seal
- Spring
Symptoms:
- No lockup
- Code 894, 1870
- Falls out of lockup when hot
- Fluid blown out of the fill tube
- Lockup immediately after 2nd gear
Cause:
Excessive pump bore-to-valve clearance allows TCC signal oil to leak past the spool, preventing proper lockup or causing it to disengage when hot. Converter feed oil can also leak, combining with signal oil to cause premature lockup.
Correction:
The Sonnax TCC Apply Valve Kit with PTFE seal eliminates bore cross-leakage and restores proper TCC functionality.
Identifying PWM vs. Non-PWM Units:
For PWM units, the OE valve features one spool at the indicated location. For non-PWM units, the OE valve features double spools, requiring Sonnax TCC Apply Valve Kit 77805-K. Note: Do not rely on OE valve material (steel vs. aluminum) to determine the unit type, as some early PWM pumps used steel TCC valves.
Transmissions: 4L70E (M70) 2004-UP, 4L65E (M32) 1993-UP, 4L60E (M33,M30) 1993-UP
