Sonnax Reverse Servo Piston Plug Kit for A500, 46RE, 46RH, A518, 47RE, 47RH, A618, 48RE, A727

Symptoms:

  • No Reverse
  • Burnt Reverse band
  • Reverse servo piston plug breakage
  • Reverse servo piston plug wear

Cause:
The OE aluminum servo plugs wear and gall due to their soft material and are prone to breaking at the spring seat area.

Correction:
Restore proper Reverse operation by installing the Sonnax reverse servo piston plug kit.

This kit fits the following transmissions: 42RE, 42RH, 46RE, 46RH, 47RE, 47RH, 48RE, A727, A904

Note: Does not fit '73-earlier models.

Product Details:
There are two styles of the OE Reverse servo piston plug in Chrysler RWD units:

  • The extended tip version for the 47RH/RE (A618) and 48RE
  • The flat tip version for the 40RH, 42RH/RE, 44RE (A500), 46RH/RE (A518), 36RH, 37RH (A727) and 30RH (A904)

Both versions of these OE aluminum plugs are subject to wear, galling, and breaking at the spring seat area due to high stresses in Reverse. The Sonnax steel reverse servo piston plug kit (22912-01K) is designed to prevent these issues. This kit won't break or wear like the OE plug and can be configured to work in both styles of RWD units.
