code P0932

What does the P0932 code mean and how do I fix it?

The P0932 fault code is triggered when there is a problem with the sensor that measures the fluid pressure of the automatic transmission. This signal indicates that the sensor, which is responsible for monitoring fluid pressure, is not working. This can cause sudden changes, transmission slippage and even the impossibility of changing gears. If you notice these signs in your vehicle, here we explain the solutions.

What does the P0932 fault code indicate?

The OBD-II P0932 code is generated when the control module detects an erroneous signal coming from the hydraulic pressure sensor, suggesting a problem in the electrical circuit of this component.

The automatic transmission's hydraulic pressure system works through a pump that generates a constant hydraulic fluid pressure. This pressure is distributed through various solenoids and valves that control the circulation of fluid to the hydraulic actuators, responsible for driving the internal components of the transmission.

The PCM and TCM electronic control modules, through a series of complex calculations, determine the optimal hydraulic pressure at any given time, considering factors such as vehicle speed, acceleration, engine load and driving conditions.

The primary function of hydraulic pressure sensors is to provide the PCM with accurate and continuous measurement of transmission fluid pressure. This information is crucial for the PCM to calculate the optimal position of the solenoids and control valves, thus ensuring that the hydraulic pressure is adapted to the driving conditions at any given time and that it remains within the limits specified by the manufacturer.

Signs of activation of the P0932 fault code

•    The engine fault warning light is activated. Sudden gear changes and irregularities in acceleration are observed.

•    The vehicle features an activation of the engine control light, accompanied by erratic gear changes and difficulties in throttle response.

Reasons why the P0932 code is activated

The P0932 diagnostic code is typically generated by an anomaly in the hydraulic pressure sensor circuit.
This anomaly can result from a failure in electrical components, such as short circuits, wiring interruptions, corrosion, blown fuses, or improper grounding.
Additionally, a faulty hydraulic pressure sensor or a malfunction of the engine control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) can trigger this code.

Solutions to the problems indicated by the P0932 code

•    Visual analysis: consists of a detailed inspection of the wiring, connectors and sensor, looking for signs of deterioration, breaks or loose connections.

•    Electrical Testing: Voltage  measurements should be performed to confirm the integrity of the circuit.

•    Component replacement: If any faults are found, the damaged part needs to be replaced.

•    Technical Inquiries: It is helpful to refer to service bulletins for information specific to your vehicle.

How much does it cost to repair a vehicle if the P0932 code is activated?

The cost of repairing a vehicle's engine in Mexico due to the P0932 code can vary depending on factors such as the model and year of the vehicle, the extent of the damage (if it is only the hydraulic motor sensor or there are other damaged components), the costs of the mechanical workshop, depending on whether it is general or specialized,  the costs of the city or country and whether the parts are original or generic.
